The Hofcast – S2 E35 Classic in the Country Recap (1/18/22)

In this episode, the first of its kind, we talk to 10 players from different schools, divisions and regions about there Classic in the Country experience!

(1:48) Alyssa Miller – The New Philly senior had 9 points, 5 assists and 4 blocks in the Quakers win over Margaretta. This included a few huge blocks at the end of regulation and OT, and a beautiful game tying 60 foot pass as the buzzer sounded.

(13:50) Hailey Tripp – The Medina senior is the heart and soul of the Bee’s squad. She has 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in the narrow lose to Lakota West.

(24:06) Aila Miller – The Hiland senior and Akron signee is starting to play really good basketball, and it showed in a solid game against major D1 opponents of South Bend Washington when she finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

(34:00) Ashley Cudnik – The Northwest junior played the hero role in the Indians come from behind OT win over Hathaway Brown. She came off the bench after an injury to score 5 quick points to force OT before finishing with with 19 points and 3 assists.

(44:20) Gia Piscitelli – The sophomore guard from Hathaway Brown ended with 17 points on only 9 shots in the Blazers OT loss to Northwest. she showed many good things in the loss though.

(53:03) Elizabeth Mason – The smooth lefty guard from Marlington made a name for herself in a win over Toledo Notre Dame, as did her Dukes. Liz scored 14 points in the win.

(1:04:40) Paige Kohler – Her Olmsted Falls squad went up against the top team in the state and 2-time D1 reigning state champion Mount Notre Dame. Paige and her squad rose to the challenge, but fell just short.

(1:14:34) Rylee Sagester – The Tri-Village junior and Marshall commit showed off her silky smooth offensive game. The Patriots came off a huge win on Saturday and got another one here on Monday.

(1:24:44) Bailey Beckstedt – The Sheridan senior PG is headed to West Liberty next season, but in the mean time she’s trying to help her squad back to regionals and another state appearance. They took the next step in a 33-28 win over host Hiland on Monday night.

(1:33:13) Rylee Leonard – Possibly the most impressive player in the weekend. The Eastern Brown star junior is heading to Thomas More in a few years but for now she’s showing out like she did in a win over Magnificat.
