Wolf and Hoying push the Wildcats past Hoban
It looked like it would be a long night for Minster as Lanae Riley was having her way on the boards. She was also showing some really nice stiff offensively. However, Minster adjusted and kept her off the boards most of the final three quarters, and limited the damage offensively.
Senior Ivy Wolf (Miami) was very impressive, her power and control at the rim is second to none. She really gave the Wildcats a boost early when they were weathering the Riley storm. Fellow senior Janae Hoying (Findlay) picked up in the second half and really provided a lift as Hoban drew close late.
Hoyings impact was never as clear it was in a late stretch when Hoban cut it to four. She handled the Hoban pressure with poise and found a wide open teammate for an easy bucket. She then followed that up with a steal after the inbound that she got fouled on and all but ended the threat at the line. The senior duo combined for 33 points and 7 assists. Promising 2022 Ella Mescher had a solid game and added 12 points and 6 boards for the one loss Wildcats.
Riley showed a nice variety of skill while racking up a game high 19 points. she stepped out and hit a three, had some nice power moves at the basket, and added in a pull up in transition. Senior Abby Stephens (Fort Wayne) had a solid day while scoring 10 and grabbing 7 boards. Karli Anker (Cedarville) and Grace Schill both chipped in 9 points a piece for the Knights.
