D2 East District

District Predictions (Regional %):
Tri-Valley (55%)
Maysville (45%)
Dover
Indian Creek

Outside the Top 4: Of the teams in this district that I’m aware of West Holmes has to be the biggest threat. Dover will have a tough game on their hands to get to districts. The Knights are deeper than most, though they lack superstar power and big time scorers, they are athletic and fundamental. They have enough talent to get to districts. Indian Valley also isn’t a bad team. If they get past River View, they could give Indian Creek a run for their money. They are a senior heavy roster with a nice lead scorer in Bardall, but I just don’t think its enough to get them over the top.

Final 4: Although they have the toughest path to the districts, I like Indian Creek to make it through. They have a really nice post/guard combo with Taylor Jones and Kylie Kiger. They have other interior help and some depth at the guard spot. With good a good win over D1 Boardman and a great win over Wheeling Park, they’ve show they can compete. I also have Dover advancing to districts, although they have the toughest single opponent in West Holmes to get by. Behind Alana Belknap and Samantha Blair, who can both go for 20 on any given night, they have some very good firepower. The Tornadoes play hard, every night. Maysville and Tri-Valley I believe are the two best teams in the district and neither team will be threatened before they get to districts.

My Pick: This is a tough choice, between two teams I haven’t seen a whole of. Maysville has the best player in the district in Bailee Smith, but they lack any impressive wins. Tri-Valley has great wins over Sheridan and D1 New Philly, while giving a very good D1 Jackson team everything they could handle. I think that Tri-Valley is deeper and have a very solid starting 5. I like King as a fiesty defensive guard who can help keep Smith at par. The Howe sisters are really good, big and long. Tri-Valley has the head to head with a win over Maysville already, and I’m aware that they play again Saturday, but Tri-Valley is my pick to move on to Zanesville.
