District Predictions (Regional %):
Stow (70%)
Aurora (10%)
Warren Harding (10%)
Canfield (10%)
Harding, Hudson, Fitch Sectional:
I honestly really like all three of these teams. I think Fitch is well coaches and play really hard. Hudson has some young talent and some really solid seniors. Warren Harding may be just too big and athletic for both of them. I like Harding making it to districts from this sectional purely based on their athleticism and length.
Canfield, Kent Roosevelt, Cuyahoga Falls, Boardman Sectional:
Cuyahoga Falls has a chance here. Canfield has many good wins, some great wins. (Stow, Louisville, Walsh Jesuit, West Branch, Poland) I think Falls can push the Cardinals but Canfield probably just has too much. Grace Mangapora is a top player in the district and very hard to guard as she an inside game and a perimeter game at 5’11”. Falls has to also get passed Boardman who is a solid squad. I pick Canfield in this sectional.
Stow, Walsh Jesuit, Perry Sectional:
Unfortunately for Perry and Walsh, and maybe Stow, this is the toughest sectional. I like Perry and Walsh Jesuit, I honestly believe Walsh would be a favorite of mine to make it to districts in any other sectional. I think Perry could get a win in any other sectional. I believe Walsh will advance and play Stow, the best team in the district. Walsh has plenty of talent, and they are deeper than most teams. However Stow is tough defensively, they have a solid first 5 and some nice pieces coming off the bench. Stow gets through to districts.
Twinsburg, Howland, Aurora Sectional:
No one in this sectional can stop Aurora, or Sellers. She will have her way and carry Greenmen to the districts. Twinsburg isn’t an easy win by any stretch but I also like Howland who has some nice youth and good size. unfortunately neither team has a player who might be able to slow Sellers down.
My Pick:
I think Stow is as good defensively as any team I’ve seen, ever. They give up only 35 points a game. Holding top seeds Jackson and Nordonia to no more than 43. They are so well coached and prepared. Sellers is without a doubt the best player in the district, one of the best in the state. Stow is the best team. Canfield did upset the Bulldogs in Indiana at Hoosiers gym, in double OT, and still only managed 53 points. Canfield has two double digit loses to Warren Harding, while Stow has beat Aurora already. I believe Stow pulls out the district, one of the tougher districts in Ohio from top to bottom.
