2019 State Finals (the less glamorous)

These are the kids you may not here about on other media outlets who only focus on the D1 stars, the college commits, or a certain area or city. Here they are, the kids that impressed me, that aren’t committed or being heavily recruited by D1 schools and everyone already knows…

I am in no way saying these kids aren’t glamorous, I’m simply implying that this may be the only place you might hear about them because they don’t necessarily fit the glamour perameters that are in place by most talent evaluators or social media…

Brielle Williams (2022) Canton GlenOak

The tiny freshman came in an gave the Eagles a bit of a spark. She has lots of energy to spare. She stepped up and knocked down some nice jump shots. She’s been a backup PG all season but has to give GlenOak an excitement as she can develop into another solid ball handler for next years run.

Lanae Riley (2022) Akron St. V

Solid post player, solid 6 foot. Has decent post moves and footwork but will continue to grow in that aspect. Works hard on the boards and knows how to score around the rim.

Annie Watson (2022) Akron St. V

Long wing kid that moves well, a shade under 6 foot but uses her length well. Nice midrange scorer, will make a huge step next year with more minutes and a bigger role.

Ava Linkliter (2021) Dayton Carroll

Speedy PG, plays the position with confidence and good tempo. Gets up and down the floor quickly and finds teammates. Very willing defender who plays with a lot of energy and intensity.

Julia Keller (2020) Dayton Carroll

Really good sized post with some serious power. Everything she does is strong. She has great feet and hands and battles in the post. She can beat defenders off the dribble as well. Great left hand finisher.

Cortney Gardner (2020) Toledo Rogers

Nice lefty guard who plays hard. She has a very nice pull up jumper and can get to the rim. takes care of the ball and doesn’t try to do too much. Will be a much bigger scorer next year.

Faith Stinson (2022) Sheridan

Really nice post player that’s athletic, long arms that gets to a lot of rebounds and blocked shots. She finishes real nice around the hoop. Already knows how to post and seal to get the ball.

Bailey Beckstedt (2022) Sheridan

Fearless guard. She stays after it on the defensive end and stays in attack mode at all times on offense. Always looking to push in transition and get to the basket.

Morgan Yoder (2021) Hiland

Bigger physical guard. Shoots the ball well and most importantly takes care of the ball as well as anyone. She can defend quickness or size. High intelligence team leader.

Marcella Sizer (2019) Waynesville

Really active and intense, she don’t back down from anyone. Finds ways to score, attacks the rim hard. Team leader on the floor and emotionally.

Celina Koncz (2020) Chippewa

Tall guard who is a great shooter. She has been extending her range more and more, making her even more dangerous. She can also score in the post when needed, making her even more diverse.

Riley Stopp (2021) Cornerstone Christian

Riley is long and tough. She can shoot the three and also get to the basket. Always active as a communicator. Can handle the ball well at her height.

Ivy Wolf (2021) Minster

Born to play the point. She does a great job of controlling tempo, pace and the ball. Gritty defender, always makes it tough. Makes great decisions and makes her teammates better.

Janae Hoying (2021) Minster

As good as Wolf is, Hoying is just as good. Janae can shoot the ball very well and gets lots of extra chances for her team on the glass and off of steals. She’s crafty getting to the rim.

Baylee Wach (2021) Shadyside

Baylee has good size, and showed her ability to shoot the ball on the biggest stage. it isn’t easy to step on that court for the first time and shoot the way she did, hitting 5 treys, but she showed a lot of confidence.
