On Thursday night The Hiland Hawks made it back on the floor at The Schottenstein Center. After a year away from Columbus this one means a little more. The ending made it even more memorable. After trailing Ottoville for most of the night, D4 Ohio Player of the Year Angela Troyer busted loose for 13 second half points to get the Hawks in the lead. Morgan McMillen and Kennedy Schlabach started heating up and the Hawks were looking good. After some missed free throws that would have padded the Hawks lead Ottoville dropped a couple from the charity stripe to tie the game with under 10 seconds remaining. As the close is running McMillen advances the basketball and dishes to Schlabach for the open three off a Weaver flair screen, nothing but net, Hawks win!
I was fortunate to catch up with Coach Schlabach, Ang Troyer and Kennedy Schlabach the afternoon after their big win…
Here is the Shot heard Around the Schott…
And for a little trip down memory lane…here’s a much younger Kennedy Schlabach cheering on the Hawks the last time they played Ottoville in Columbus, circa 2005…
