Coaches,

I wanted to let all Varsity AC Air Attack coaches know that one of our current players passed away this past Monday.  Her name was Julia Norris, she was from Green, and she had just turned 10 yrs old a few weeks ago and played on the 4^th gr. girls team that Vince & I coach this spring.  She wasn’t feeling well last Friday, her parents took her to the hospital where the doctors discovered she had a brain tumor and she went to heaven on Monday.  Calling hours for Julia are Monday from 4-8pm at Anthony & Biscan Funeral Home in Green.  There will also be a Mass for her on Tuesday morning at 11am.

I am asking all of our coaches to please let all of your teams VAC families know about this and to pray for the Norris family.  Also, the Varsity AC has started a memorial scholarship fund in Julia’s name.  We are asking all VAC Air Attack families to please consider donating to this fund.  The money raised will go to the Green Girls High School Basketball team to be awarded to a senior girl that best exemplifies the traits that Julia had on the basketball floor – mainly having fun while playing, shown by her great smiles throughout the game!  Our goal is to raise $2000 from all the VAC families, of which there are over 500 families this spring playing basketball for us so if everyone can donate just $5 we can achieve that goal.  Raising $2000 will enable a Green Girls Basketball Graduating Senior to receive a gift of $250 in Julia’s name each year for the next 8 years starting with the class of 2015.  The reasoning behind the 8 years in length is that will allow all the classes ahead of Julia, that she has grown up watching play basketball, through all the girls she has played basketball with in Green, ending with the current 3^rd grade class at Green (she played with some of those 3^rd grade girls in Rec ball in Green) to receive this gift from Julia!  We have set up an account with FIFTH THIRD BANK.  The name of the account is THE JULIA FUND.  You can go to any fifth third bank in Ohio and make a donation to that fund. That account is now open and we will keep it open until the end of May, after which we will meet with the Green coaches to make this memorial scholarship donation.

You may want to hug your own a little tighter tonight – its scary how quickly this has happened with no warning at all.
